Spinning Hoop Dance

Mona Qaddoumi

Born from the depths of psychedelia and sensual self-expression, comes the performance of Mona “ShpongledHoops”. Trained in the arts, she found her deepest creativity and connection to the world through Archetypal Hoop Dancing. Donning handmade masks and costumes, she takes on various symbols of life including fear, desire and confusion. Each performance is an expression of the raw self, represented through striking colors, intricate patterns and full-face masks. Over the past two decades, she has performed throughout North America, bringing audiences intensely primal performances that celebrate our collective individuality through music and movement.

In addition to performing, Mona has taught Hoop Dancing at Universities, Music/Flow Festivals, Dance Studios and private lessons since 2007. Workshops and lessons span from beginner level Hoop Dancing to advanced levels focused on highly technical manipulation of the hoop. Connecting with others and sharing her love for Hoop Dancing has anchored her throughout life’s evolution. She is both a visual and movement artist, marrying these two passions through her performance and teaching career.
